series: love knows no borders
kodak portra 400 and kodak ektar 100 35mm film
The idea for this series came to me when I was doing some street photography while on my trip to Spain, and found myself taking photos of strangers—but the people that caught my eye were either couples or friends. After, when I came home and did some more street photography in Vancouver, I began to notice more wonderful signs of love popping up everywhere, and that is when I realized I wanted to document the idea that love can exist anywhere in the world and in many forms. Whether that be love between best friends, love between family members, love between people and their animals, or love between couples—love is love.
These photos bring me so much joy to see, especially during such dark and sad times, so I hope that they bring some happiness and hope to you too. They serve as a reminder that there is beauty and love even in a pandemic, and we should focus on cherishing the people we have with us.
love knows eternity
the little acts: a man helps adjust his wife’s backpack as they get up to resume their stroll on the boardwalk of Palma, Mallorca.
matching: a couple, one wearing a bright blue shit and the other with bright turquoise pants with matching sandals, hold hands as they walk under the sun in Mallorca.
opposites: this pair seems to be completely contrasting - one wearing swears and blue with graying hair, and the other in all black and leather - but perhaps that’s what makes it work.
love knows sisterhood
chit-chats: two friends take a seat and enjoy the view of the ocean as they catch up on their day, minutes before they are forced to leave as police enforce social distancing measures.
the crazy fun side: my spirit animals. These spectacular women walk together along the shore with bold swimsuits, clutching their clothes as they laugh and enjoy the sun tanning on their backs — tan lines evident. One lady even has her straps hanging down, no care in the world, as she enjoys her time with her friend.
love knows change
uncommon afternoons: this elderly couple in Vancouver takes a walk on the seawall during the pandemic, evident by the masks on their faces. Unfortunately, the elderly are some of the most vulnerable at this time, forcing them to always wear face masks when in public to stay safe. But exercise is important, and on a beautiful day like this it seems as if this pair have decided to enjoy the sunshine. If not for social distancing and masks, this would have been like any other stroll in their lives, but they must adapt to this change together.
